About
Inertia

Inertia is first and foremost a PvE endgame guild. The guild consists of a broad spectrum of players with different gaming experience (ranging from complete newcomers to WoW to veterans from the original Beta) with several things in common:

  • We know it's a game, and we're here to have fun, not turn WoW into a second job.
  • We know an MMO can't be beaten, and the fun is more in the relationships we build than the pixels we win.
  • We either have limited time in which to raid, or enjoy that we can do other things outside of raid time.
  • We have built and enjoy a strong community within the guild.
  • We wish to see a stronger community on our server in general.

In addition to casual and non-raiding members, we aim to keep our core raiding membership at or below 40 accounts and as such we are very selective about recruitment.

We started out originally as a few refugees from Kael'thas looking for a server which actually had some sort of population at Australian peak times. We originally experimented with the idea of rerolling on Khaz'goroth (at the time, the only Oceanic PvE server). Shortly thereafter Blizzard announced the intention to deliver new Oceanic servers and we began planning our guild. The guildname Inertia was the most popular name voted by members of many suggested at the time.

We formed June 9, 2006, just after the opening of the server with around 25 preregistered members. Our guild name is actually spelled LNERTIA in-game because of a conflict with another player's name in the first few minutes of the server - an interesting spelling that we've come to embrace as something unique to us. In the seven months prior to The Burning Crusade we leveled to 60 and cleared ZG, AQ and MC. Time has changed since then - we've seen the introduction of paid character transfers, cross realm battlegrounds, arenas, class reviews, Naxxramas and now the release of the expansion.

Inertia continues to be much the same guild in the expansion that we always were - one committed to raiding and enjoying new content, but not at the expense of our guild community or the wellbeing of our members. We know that the best new content we'll see is the content we get to see together.

The guild is currently raiding 6 days a week, but in two groups each of which raids 3 of those days. Our groups schedules are staggered to allow alts on the second run as fill-ins should numbers be needed, and the raids groups are not fixed - we encourage rotation in order for members to share with each other their experiences. At at present our raid times are set at 8.30pm to 12am server time. We require members to be ready for raids at 8.30pm sharp in order to maximise the benefit we get from the limited time we have available. More information about our guild can be read in the Policies section of the website and our forum.

Old Inertia Banners

Our website has evolved a lot since we first registered the site in April 2006. Below are a few of the banners we have had at the top of our main page, and a little of the history behind them.

 January 2007

Our new banner introduces The Burning Crusade to Inertia's site. Put together by Streuth it includes references to new items, races, and the chaotic nature of both Outland and learning new content.

 December 2006

We'd pretty much finished raiding for the year and were having a muck-around with some world PvP, when our raid failed to kill Jaina Proudmoore. The tell that was received by one of our members we felt was pretty funny; Streuth converted it into a Christmas banner for the site.

  July 2006

Created by Streuth, our new banner reflected well several aspects of our guild. In some ways, Thunder Bluff symbolises both humble beginnings and a fresh, peaceful place away from some of the more challenging aspects of the world. It described a tight-knit, friendly guild that was starting the game afresh very well.

  June 2006

Our first banner with our new guild name. Put together by Flexibull following registration of the guild on opening day, it shows tier 2 horde. The idea was to give new recruits on the server a little hint of what we were aiming for.

  April 2006

Some of our history derives from an old Alliance guild named Lightwing Brood. So, when we rerolled on Kazgoroth and created a guild, we named it Darkwing Brood - and Flexibull butchered the old Lightwing logo for our site's banner. In some ways it reflects how, at the time, we hadn't yet decided on any specific goals with our new reroll, and were keeping close ties with our past.
